Uttapam is a famous South Indian recipe which you could simply make at your home. Commonly prepared with sooji or semolina, the uttapam recipe has a twist & is made for those who are fasting. This amazing uttapam dish is absolutely lip-smacking & is made with barnyard millet (samak/swang ke chawal ka atta), tomato, sendha namak, green chilli, coriander leaves and cumin powder.

How to prepare Vrat Wale Uttapam: Step 1) To make this amazing uttapam dish, bring a vessel & drop powdered barnyard millet into it alongside cumin powder & sendha namak. Sift properly & pour water into it to make the uttapam batter. Assure that the batter has little thick consistency & no lumps are left. Step 2) Next, place a non-stick vessel on a moderate flame & grease it with a slight ghee. Once the ghee is melted, pour a little amount of batter with the ladle & spread it with circular motions. Spray sliced tomatoes, coriander leaves and green chillies on the made uttapam. Reduce the flame & allow the uttapam to cook. Step 3) Now, add a slight ghee to the sides & on the uttapam. You could also close the pan with a glass lid for cooking the uttapam from inside. Post a few mins, flip it & cook till the tomatoes become brown. This would take two to three mins. to cook from each side. Step 4) When the uttapam is cooked, have it hot with the tomato or coconut chutney as you like.
